Week of January 6 - 10, 2014
Good morning!
Well, after a snow day, we are back at it. Here is the 411 for TUESDAY and FRIDAY:
6th GRADE: I don't have everybody's ANGLES worksheets yet. Put them in the drop envelope on the window. It is overdue. i.e. you NEED to get this to me ASAP.
Today - Work in IXL. Do anything you like in 7th GRADE - Geometry section (P), but do it for AT LEAST 30 minutes.
6th GRADE - FRIDAY: If you have a TESSELLATION project underway in Room 115, please pick up your materials from the Tessellation Box outside Rm115. Mrs. Boone may let you work in the library if you promise to be very good :)
You are to use at least TWO shapes and at least TWO colors in your tessellation. Anything less, or late work, "will not meet".
PREPARE for your unit TEST on MONDAY, JANUARY 13, covering the book, SHAPES AND DESIGNS. If you do not have a book, BORROW one from your teacher for the weekend. This test will be different than other tests. You will be evaluated on your PRECISION of language use, such as we practiced in class and on the CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS of JUSTIFY and RELATE.
Here is an example question taken from your text book:
"Tell how the exterior angles of a quadrilateral RELATE to the interior angles."
You can see this question and a sample answer on page 95. See this page also to prepare for JUSTIFY.
Prepare to be tested on these vocabulary words:
point*, vertex, angle, exterior angle, irregular polygon, line of symmetry, diagonal
Definition of point: A point is an exact position or location on a plane surface. A point is not an object, but a place. It has no size.
GEOMETRY: Begin working on Chapter 7. Begin to get your head around TRIGONOMETRY, particularly SOA-CAH-TOA.
For Friday, begin working in your resource packet fro Chapter 7. Complete Sections 7.1 and 7.2 by Monday.
ALGEBRA: Continue working on Chapter 5. Focus on Level C questions in your resource book. We need to complete it SOON.
Thursday for homework and on Friday, during your math study period, work on finishing resource packet questions on Section 5.4. Over the weekend, read sections 5.5 and work on Questions 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, and 17 on the Practice B sheet. Pick it up outside Room 115.
**Change of plan: Do not do the review section (5.1 - 5.4) YET. Do it Monday for homework. You are going to test on on WEDNESDAY, Jan 15. Begin to plan your review.**
Then, on MONDAY (Jan 13) we review your work and do Section 5.6 together. Tuesday next week you will review on your own. Wednesday, January 15 you will sit the exit test for Chapter 5.
