Fall is here, even if it isn't 'officially' here. The days grow shorter and cooler. Inside, I am grumpy about that and give the idea of winter a "0".
Mrs. Dawson voting on the idea of winter. |
On the other hand, seeing all of you every day, learning and growing, makes me feel warm inside. Please keep doing your jobs as students. If you don't, my inner grumpiness may sneak out. Keep the Inner Grump inside: DO YOUR HOMEWORK.
Mrs. Dawson thinking how wonderful her students are for working hard. |
NOTE: If a day is highlighted in this color (fuschia), it means that you have homework due THE NEXT DAY we meet.

6th grade math:
MONDAY: (in class)
objective - Continue working with PRIME NUMBERS: develop automaticity with prime numbers and an understanding of how they relate to other numbers in a grid; MONOMIALS - define and practice
standard: Math.CCSS.Math.Content.6.EE.A.2.b: Identify parts of an expression using mathematical terms (sum, term, product, factor, quotient, coefficient); view one or more parts of an expression as a single entity. For example, describe the expression 2 (8 + 7) as a product of two factors; view (8 + 7) as both a single entity and a sum of two terms.
activities - work on Prime Numbers Poster and your Sieve of Eratosthenes
text pages - 7
homework - due - Eratosthenes work from last Friday:
1) your Sieve of Eratosthenes, 2) questions
TUESDAY: (in class)
objective - Continue working on understanding and defining with precision PRIME NUMBERS, FACTORS, and PRODUCTS;
standard: Math.CCSS.Math.Content.6.EE.A.2.b: Identify parts of an expression using mathematical terms (sum, term, product, factor, quotient, coefficient); view one or more parts of an expression as a single entity. For example, describe the expression 2 (8 + 7) as a product of two factors; view (8 + 7) as both a single entity and a sum of two terms.

WEDNESDAY: (in class)
objective - begin Greatest Common Factor and Least Common Multiple, practice PEMDAS
standards:
Math.CCSS.Math.Content.6.NS.B.4: Find the greatest common factor of two whole numbers less than or equal to 100 and the least common multiple of two whole numbers less than or equal to 12.
Math.CCSS.Math.Content.6.EE.A.3: Apply the properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions. For example, apply the distributive property to the expression 3 (2 + x) to produce the equivalent expression 6 + 3x; apply the distributive property to the expression 24x + 18y to produce the equivalent expression 6 (4x + 3y); apply properties of operations to y + y + y to produce the equivalent expression 3y.
