WEEK OF OCTOBER 21 - 25

Students, please note, I will be away at a conference this Thursday and Friday. I will post your homework here.

6th grade math:You may use this website to help you think about and name your Special Shape:  http://www.math.com/tables/geometry/polygons.htm. By Wednesday, be prepared to tell me what shape you are going to do your project on.

Here are your instructions for tomorrow (Tuesday) - 

LP - IXL as assigned and ...

ALL - in your reference section, create an entry for "compare" and "describe" (see p. 77 in Bits & Pieces for a good definition). Read Shapes and Designs, pages  7 - 16. Do the problems on p. 13 in your head. 

Then, in IXL, do

**All IXL work assigned is REQUIRED, not optional. So arrange your schedule as necessary to get it done. **

In class on Wednesday, we do Mathematical Reflection 1 on page 23 and will begin the 
Special Shapes project.

Algebra:  In math class on Tuesday, do as much as possible of these questions below:


  • working on Section 3.3, "Solve Multi-step Equations", do questions 33, 34, 36, 41, 45, 47, 54,  on pages 150-153; 


  • working on Section 3.4 "Solve Equations with Variables on Both Sides", do questions 1, 8, 13, 14, 18, 22, 24, 27, 35, 40, 43, 50, 53, 54, 55 on pages 156-7.
  • In IXL, do sections 8th Grade - AA.2 & Z.12, and Algebra I.2 & H.2.   

Geometry: Work on finishing Chapter 3. We will go over the rest of Chapter 3 in class on Wednesday. 

When you are ready, work on your assessment packet containing Quiz #3, Chapter Test C and a pre-test for Chapter 4. Have these completed by next Monday, October 28. 

Please indulge me and start reading Flatland. We can talk a bit about it on Wednesday. It's weird and funny and absurd and worth it.
