Week of December 8 - 12, 2014

We're all about that bass hyperboloid.
'Bout that hyperboloid,
'Bout that hyperboloid,
'Bout that hyperboloid.

Hmm, better keep working on the lyrics.

6th grade math

Accelerated class:

Monday (12/8, in class) -
1. Look over Pine Tree Transformations.
2. If finished - hand in Transformers Transformations.
3. Winter wonderland project. Link here for instructions.

These are the standards for the week:
7.G.A.1
Solve problems involving scale drawings of geometric figures, including computing actual lengths and areas from a scale drawing and reproducing a scale drawing at a different scale.

6.G.A.3
Draw polygons in the coordinate plane given coordinates for the vertices; use coordinates to find the length of a side joining points with the same first coordinate or the same second coordinate. Apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.

Tuesday (12/9, in class) - Winter wonderland project.

Wednesday (12/10, in class) - FLL presentations

Thursday (12/11, in class) - Winter wonderland project.

Friday (12/12, independent) - Winter wonderland project. Due MONDAY, December 15.

Looking ahead: (on Monday) using an angle-ruler

T/Th Enrichment group:

this week: transformations - reflections, dilations, rotations, translations

7th grade math

Monday (12/8, in class) - review Chapter Test 2.

These are the skills in focus:
- multi-step equations,
- writing function statements,
- distributive property,
- multiplying by negative values

Tuesday (12/9) - Mrs. Harvey will lead you in a BeeBot project.

HOMEWORK: Keep working on your Chapter tests 1-3.

Wednesday (12/10, in class) Review skills covered on Chapter Test 2,
Level B part ii and

HOMEWORK: Keep working on your Chapter tests 1-3.

Thursday (12/11, in class) - Review skills covered on Chapter Test 3,
Level A part ii.

no homework

Friday (12/12, independent) -

Work on these Khan Academy pieces:
Begin to watch each video, and as you watch it, decide whether you need to watch it to the end. If you KNOW it - like, you could take a test on it right now - then you can stop watching it before the end.

1. Dividing from both sides of equations
2. Solving two-step equations
3. Multi-step equations

Practice these skills:
1. Balancing Old Spice Man on a scale
2. Two-step equations
3. Working with units algebraically

If you complete these, then you have CHOICE to do whatever you want in KHAN ACADEMY. Check out the programming, even!

Remember to work in your classroom or the library.

Looking ahead: (Monday) BeeBots :)

HOMEWORK: Work on Resource Packet due Mon 12/15

Thursday (12/11, in classChapter 6: Similarity; review of basic types of functions

HOMEWORK: Work on Resource Packet due Mon 12/15

Friday (12/12, independentChapter 6: Similarity

Remember to work in your classroom or the library.
