Week of November 10 - 14, 2014

For everybody: Ease your mind (we will do this together in class).

6th grade math

Accelerated class:

Monday (11/10, in class) - Platonic solids - dodecahedron project

Math.CCSS.Math.Content.6.G.A.44. Represent three-dimensional figures using NETS made up of rectangles and triangles, and use the nets to find the surface area of these figures. Apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.

Tuesday (11/11) - No School. Thank a veteran.

Wednesday (11/12, in class) - Platonic solids - dodecahedron project

Thursday (11/13, in class) - Deciphering the standard:

Math.CCSS.Math.Content.6.G.A.22. Find the volume of a right rectangular prism with fractional edge lengths by packing it with unit cubes of the appropriate unit fraction edge lengths, and show that the volume is the same as would be found by multiplying the edge lengths of the prism. Apply the formulas V = l w h and V = b h to find volumes of right rectangular prisms with fractional edge lengths in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.

Lets do this Khan Academy piece together.

Friday (11/14, independent) - Khan Academy:

1. Surface Area of NETS
2. Surface Area of 3D Objects
3. Volume with Fractions

If you finish these, keep working in these sections.

SATURDAY - November 15 - BIG HERO 6 MOVIE - 5.25 pm - Spotlight Cinemas

Looking ahead: Geometry - volume of cones, cylinders, pyramids, circles; Four Quadrants

Enrichment group:
